Emily received her dance training at Ballet Arts Minnesota under the direction of Bonnie Mathis, Kaatsbaan International Dance Center, Joffrey Midwest Workshop and also through full-scholarship experiences with American Ballet Theatre's summer program and Boston Ballet School. Emily has performed with Boston Ballet and as a guest on James Sewell Ballet's tour to Iceland.  She is currently a member of the James Sewell Ballet company.

Emily began her vocal training with Judith Melander and continues with Kenny Kiser. She was also a student artist with New Breath Productions, a local musical theater company, under the direction of Kenny Kiser. She has sung at the Varsity Theater, The Walker Art Center, and The Joyce Theater in New York City. She was most recently seen as Trudy in Brian Kelly and Todd Price’s musical spoof The Temp at the Music Box Theater. Emily also works as a voiceover talent in the Twin Cities.

As an extension of her dancing, Emily has taken to film as an art form with an emphasis on movement, music and characterization. Her film …found you! was selected to be shown as a part of the Choreographers Evening at the Walker Art Center. She is currently working on developing a website, movespace.org, as an outlet for dance on camera.

When she’s not working for James, Emily makes dances, films, games, jokes, songs, and any combination of the five, often in collaboration with other artists. She has worked with abstract painter, Patrick Pryor and jazz pianist, Jim O’Neill as part of an improvisational “Music Sketch”. She has collaborated with dancer Justin Leaf, creating a “mockumentary” style film starring herself as five different characters as part of The Alternative Artist Collective. Emily was featured on the cover of the December 2007 Metro Magazine. She has studied aerial and circus arts with Xelias in Northeast Minneapolis and is currently taking wire-flying and stunt lessons with Jason Hilton, Tumblemonster Productions. Her dream of running away to join the circus will never die.
